Job Vacancy for Deputy Manager
Job Title: Deputy Manager (Breakfast & After School Club)
Responsible to: Manager and Voluntary Management Committee
Hours Mon to Fri: Breakfast 7:45am till school starts,
After School between 3:15pm - 6:00pm (as required)
(13 hours per week)
Responsibilities/Duties:
- To arrive on time to prepare for the arrival of the children
- Provide and supervise safe creative play opportunities for children
- Assisting in the development of policies and procedures and working within them
- Take a leading role in the planning and preparation of a program of activities
- To accurately record and inform parents of any incidents or accident relating to their
child/ren that has occurred during the session
- Assisting and providing full care for the children including safe arrival to and from their
classroom, refreshments, first aid etc
- To set out and clear away equipment
- Carry out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities framework
- Ensure 1:8 staff/child ratio is adhered to for children under eight and 1:10 for over eights
- To ensure that security regulations are upheld
- Take a leading role in fulfilling the requirements of the Statutory Framework for the
Early Years Foundation Stage
- Keyworker to a number of families - getting to know the family, passing on information
and encouraging parental involvement and support
- Ensuring safety and hygiene
- Encouraging the children to be independant and responsible
- To work as part of a team
- Be aware of the different ages of the children and be mindful of intimidation or bullying
- Attend meetings as appropriate
- Undertake training as and when necessary
- Willingness to take on further managerial duties over time
- Ensure appropriate dress and personal appearance and hygiene
- To undertake such duties as become necessary to ensure the successful running of the Club
We require a person who:
- Is qualified in childcare to Level 3 NVQ or equivalent, preferably in Early Years
- Has good interpersonal skills and works well as a member of a team
- Is capable of taking charge when necessary
- Has understanding and some experience of children with special needs
- Is prepared to undertake training as and when necessary
- Has a good level of computer literacy
- Has good work ethic
